La Paws Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into La Paws Restaurant in Big Bear feels like being welcomed into a warm, familiar kitchen where the hum of casual chatter blends with the aromas of slow-simmered sauces and freshly made tortillas. Nestled just off the bustling boulevard, this local gem holds the charm of a relaxed neighborhood spot where the pace is unhurried yet lively, drawing in both mountain visitors winding down after a day outdoors and longtime residents seeking comfort food with heart.
The interior is simple and inviting, the kind of place where friendly greetings come easily and the clatter from the kitchen suggests meals crafted with care rather than rushed service. Here, the mood is one of genuine hospitality — a place where the owner’s presence feels like the reassuring touch that holds everything together. It’s clear this is a space nurtured through decades, where tradition meets the rhythms of the local community.
Dining at La Paws is an experience wrapped in homestyle flavors that linger long after the first bite. The food carries the unmistakable soul of authentic Mexican cooking — rich, layered, and deeply satisfying — yet served with a casual, no-fuss approach. Whether it’s a hearty enchilada plate accompanied by beans and rice or a wet carne asada burrito smothered in red sauce, dishes here evoke the comfort of lovingly prepared meals that neighbors have shared for years.
It’s not just the food that draws people in, but the atmosphere of belonging — the sense that this spot is a quiet cornerstone for the Big Bear community. Locals and visitors alike come for quick, flavorful bites that feel like a moment’s pause, a shared smile, and a taste of something familiar yet special. The steady flow of familiar faces and the care poured into every plate make La Paws more than a fast food stop; it’s a part of the local fabric where culinary tradition and human connection meet.

As a Texan I didn’t think I would find good authentic Mexican food but was beyond surprised. Food came out quick. Ramon and Karmen are wonderful people. Closest thing I’ve found to Tex-mex if I’m being honest

Been stopping in since the 90's. Consistently good! I don't even think twice about it. Yesterday, Halloween 2022, was no exception. The Mrs loved her cheese enchiladas, I loved my carne asada burrito. We will be back again, and again!!

BOMB Carne Asada burrito tastes authentic like a Tio or Tia made it for you. The salsa verde is really good and the cashier Amy was nice.
